The Manhattan grid sits about twenty-nine degrees off true north, so the floor is not a bounding box, it is a rotated quadrilateral. A bounding box would illegally admit parts of Chelsea and the Village. Membership is checked against the polygon at admission and three applicants on the wrong side of Seventh have been turned away with regret and without appeal. The eastern edge runs down the centreline of Park Avenue South. A petition to extend it to Lexington was tabled, then tabled again, and is now simply where petitions go.
